Nancy Martino

Director of Philanthropy

Nancy brings to MusicBreeds a breadth and depth of experience conceptualizing, planning, and executing comprehensive fundraising programs, including the identification, qualification, cultivation, and solicitation of individual, corporate and foundation donors.  She has built and diversified revenue for various nonprofits at various stages of organizational development by creating needed infrastructure and strengthening existing donor relationships and developing new ones. Other nonprofits that have benefited from Nancy’s work include the University of Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Chapter of The Nature Conservancy, International House Philadelphia, Interfaith Philadelphia, and small arts organizations with programs serving underserved youth.

Nancy’s personal mission is to use her experience and talents to improve the lives of others, particularly underserved young people in disadvantaged communities, so that they can achieve their full potential in a just and inclusive world. She has spent decades of advancing nonprofit organizations with important missions as a development director, independent consultant, executive director, and civic volunteer.

Helping historically underserved students began with her first professional fundraising position at New Jersey Institute of Technology raising funds for pre-college and college-level minority engineering programs. Her tenure as the first full-time Executive Director of Save A Mind Foundation, which provides a customized incentive-based program for low-income middle school students, solidified her commitment to doing her part to close the achievement gap.

Nancy credits her late father for her love of music and passion to make our world a better place for all of us.  She has two degrees from the University of Pennsylvania: a B.A. in Oriental Studies and a M.A. in Modern Arabic Literature.
